At Home With Planet Offers - Exercise

Welcome to day 2 of At Home with Planet Offers and today we wanted to focus on exercise! We all know how important it is to keep active but with the current situation this has been made more difficult as you can’t just take the kids out to the park or head to the gym but there are plenty of things to help. From live online classes, apps, guides and much more. So, take this opportunity to get everyone out in the garden or even get up in the front room to exercise as a family and remember to share your best ideas and tips over on our social media, so everyone can get involved. Here are a few tips and tricks to help get you started:

PE with Joe Wicks on YouTube

You’ve probably heard about this one already but it’s worth putting it out there again as it’s a great opportunity to get up and exercise as a family without having to leave the house. Each day at 9am on YouTube Joe Wicks (famous for his health and fitness programs) leads a PE lesson that is free to watch and has taken the internet by storm. Plenty of people are sharing videos of themselves doing this online as well, so its been a great way to boost the community spirit!

Oti Mabuse Dance Classes on YouTube

Famous for her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, Oti Mabuse is taking a similar route to Joe Wicks and offering a live dance class each day on YouTube. Each day will be following a theme including Mary Poppins, Jungle Book and most importantly High School Musical (we’re all in this together anyone?). These will be live each day at 11:30am and looking from the response online so far, plenty of people are having loads of fun getting involved.

Chris Hemsworths Fitness App – Centr

Every Mum’s favourite Norse God Thor or as he is known on Earth, Chris Hemsworth has offered six weeks free on his fitness app Centr to help keep people active. There are loads of classes, tips and tricks that will help you keep fit while in the house. Normally this app costs over £100 a year, so to get six weeks free is a great deal and its always good to see celebs put people ahead of profit!

Couch to 5k – BBC App

This one has been about for a while but since we can still go outside the house each day to exercise, this is a great place to start. The app will guide you for nine weeks, starting with a combination of jogging and walking up to being able to run a whole 5k without stopping. With options limited at the moment, maybe this can help keep you entertained as well as giving you something to work towards.

Get out in your garden

While not all of us have a garden, for those of you that do, the weather has picked up and now is the time to get out there and make the most of the space. From playing games with the kids to using the space for weights, skipping or any other type of exercise, your garden can be transformed into your own personal gym. Take some motivation from this guy practicing his goalkeeping all on his own. It just shows what the kids can come up with when they need to!
